The objective of this project was to design a book cover for a story from the podcast This American Life while avoiding the common contemporary book design trends. I chose the story of Tornado Prom, in which a small-town senior high school class was stuck in their prom venue during a tornado.
A creative book cover design for Tornado Prom that balances chaos and nostalgia through montage-style collage. Inspired by early 2000s teen aesthetics, the design merges prom imagery with visual storytelling. Textures were created using found materials, like glitter made from makeup, the road made from paper, and the crown from gold reflective packaging. The sash title layout guides the eye naturally toward other elements. The result blends tactile experimentation with digital precision for a playful yet evocative visual identity.

The objective of this project was to design a brochure for a museum exhibit featuring my favorite pair of shoes, the New Balance Fresh Foam 680 v8. The design goal was to use photography as the main design element.
A tri-fold brochure concept for a museum collecting everyday objects. The design communicates comfort visually. Soft textures, cloud imagery, and close-up photography evoke the feeling of walking on air. A cohesive color palette and dynamic, asymmetrical layout guide the viewer naturally through the content, reflecting simplicity, clarity, and conceptual depth.

I am a detail-oriented graphic designer with a refined aesthetic and strong command of color. I am pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design at California State University, East Bay, with graduation expected in December 2025.In 2022, I was recognized with the Biggest Growth award in BRIDGEGOOD's Inspire Oakland Digital Media Competition, where I was also one of the top twenty finalists. My creative perspective is shaped by my Chinese-Filipina heritage and my upbringing in the Bay Area, which inspires my sensitivity to culture, diversity, and storytelling through design.Outside of academic and professional work, I enjoy crocheting, video editing, and exploring visual narratives through television and film. I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer for Soul Prop Records, where I continue to expand my skills in branding and visual communication.I'm open to new opportunities.
